Peg Heise: All about me.
I grew up in Alma, Nebraska and attended my whole school career there. The school year was always busy with activities and the summers were spent at the lake. Alma was a great place to grow up. I went to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and graduated with a degree in Biology and Psychology.
My first teaching job was at Oakland-Craig and one of my most notable students was “Mr. Zessin.”
I met Bill, my husband, while I was teaching up north and we soon got married. Bill and I moved to Wood River in 1990 and have raised our family here. We have 3 daughters and 2 grandchildren. Maddie, the oldest, was born on Leap Day, and is a hair stylist at Shear Power. She and her husband Bryan and a 3 month old little boy named Riggs. Morgan, the middle child, played volleyball for Hastings college is now a teacher at Walnut Middle School. She and her husband Tyler have a 3 year old daughter named Fayelynn. (She calls me GiGi) Our youngest daughter is Macy. She graduated from Hastings CCC and works at Hastings Physical Therapy.
I’ve been teaching for 33 years with 30 of them here at Wood River. I was a volleyball coach for 29 years and have also coached basketball and track. I teach Middle School Science and really enjoy it. Teaching middle school can definitely be very interesting each and every day.
Wood River is a great community and I am so glad that I got to raise my family here.
