girls wrestling

Wood River Eagles,

It’s an exciting time of year, with only 8 ½ school days remaining before the Holiday Break. There is still much to accomplish! This week, the elementary school will be checking progress on our reading and math goals. Please help your child do their best by making sure they get plenty of sleep each night.

It is a big week for wrestling! Varsity wrestler parents will be recognized during the boys’ and girls’ dual meet against Minden on Thursday night.  We are also hosting invitational tournaments this week: boys on Friday and girls on Saturday, each featuring nearly 20 teams competing. Thank you to our many volunteers for making these events possible!

The Nebraska Department of Education recently released the AQuESTT (Accountability for a Quality Education System, Today and Tomorrow) ratings. These ratings help parents understand how schools are performing. The four ratings levels are: Needs Improvement, Good, Great, and Excellent. Most of the score is based on student math and reading proficiency in grades 3–8 and 11. We are proud to share our results:

• Elementary: Great

• Middle School: Excellent

• High School: Great

• Wood River Rural School District: Great (just 1.22% below Excellent in math and reading)

We are Always Reaching for Excellence and will continue working toward achieving Excellent ratings across all schools.

If you have any questions or if there is information you would like to see in future newsletters, please contact me directly at tzessin@wrrsd.org.

Have a great week.
