Eagle Families, we are excited to share that our middle/high school has recently been designated as a Lighthouse School by The Leader in Me organization, Franklin Covey. This prestigious recognition highlights our school as a model in implementing The Leader in Me principles.
This recognition reflects our strong leadership culture, where both students and staff are actively involved. Together, they form action teams that positively shape the direction of our schools.
Students take charge of their own learning by setting (WIGs) Wildly Important Goals in academics and identifying key actions to achieve them, called lead measures.
The Leader in Me program is based on the best-selling business book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen Covey.
We will be celebrating this Lighthouse designation with a special day designed by our students this Thursday.
Our Elementary School earned its Lighthouse designation two years ago, further demonstrating that Wood River Rural Schools are deeply rooted in the core principles of The Leader in Me:
Everyone has potential
Anyone can be a leader
Change begins with each of us
Educators empower students to lead their own learning
We strive to develop the whole person
We are proud of the direction that our schools are headed. It is not without the hard work of our staff and students, and their willingness to believe in the extraordinary while reaching for excellence.
If you have any questions about The Leader in Me or any of our other programs, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me personally. tzessin@wrrsd.org There is also a well written article is this past week's Clipper newspaper.
