CTE Month Logo

Dear Eagle Families,

As we enter February, I want to take a moment to highlight the many exciting things happening in our district. February is CTE (Career and Technical Education) Month. It’s a time to celebrate what our CTE programs have achieved and what they do for students of all ages. We are especially grateful for our CTE staff, Kiley Codner in Agriculture, David Gifford in Business Management and Information Technology, Darin Waddington in Industrial Technology, Abby Mrkvicka and Pam Kimminau in Health Sciences, Matt Cantrell in post-secondary planning, and Elizabeth Heywood teaching career skills in the JAG (Jobs for America's Graduates) program.  They have engaged our students in career exploration and taught them valuable skills that will serve them in future careers and in their everyday lives.

Wood River is fortunate to offer a number of career programs of study, with opportunities for students at the introductory, intermediate, and capstone levels. Our career programs of study include:

Agriculture
Ag Power Structures, Animal Science, and Plant Science

Business Management Information Technology
Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Business Technology, Hospitality, and Event Planning

Industrial Technology
Construction, Welding, Engines, and Manufacturing

Health Science
EMT (Emergency Medical Technician), CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant), and Life Span Performance

If you have questions about any of these career programs of study, please call our counselor, Matt Cantrell, or any of our CTE staff. Wood River Rural Schools is dedicated to preparing our students for success beyond high school.  We Are Always Reaching for Excellence!
