Wood River Families,

I hope you enjoyed a restful weekend with family and made the most of Sunday’s beautiful weather. As we stay focused on this school year, we’re also planning ahead. High school students are signing up for next year’s classes, including many dual credit courses through Central Community College. These courses—such as College English 101 and 102, Public Speaking, American History (for Juniors), Intro to American Government (for Seniors), College Algebra, Applied Statistics, Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)—offer both high school and college credit. Most are 3-credit courses taught right here by our Wood River staff, making them an incredible value at just $15 per credit. This represents significant savings for students as credits transfer to other Nebraska colleges. Students can also take additional courses directly from Central Community College. We’re grateful to have such highly qualified staff providing these opportunities in our school.

Eagles Soaring High

Yesterday was School Librarian Appreciation Day, and we are fortunate to have Brenda Hirchert as our district librarian. She wears many hats, serving as our librarian, media specialist, and technology integration specialist. She strives to bring reading alive for our students.

It’s also Assistant Principal Appreciation Week! We’re grateful for Scott Hirchert, our assistant principal and athletic director, whose organizational skills are especially appreciated as we host two track meets this week. His leadership has also helped us reach our 90% participation goal in school activities.

Congratulations to our Middle/High School Academic All Stars of the Week: Kenna Wagoner, Tyler Hall, Carter Schulte, Samantha Tebbit, and Lila Morse!

Thank you to our Lighthouse Students at the High School for giving tours to visiting students from other schools and showcasing how we encourage leadership at Wood River.

Shoutout to Lindsay Davis, the Elementary Action team, and The Photo Bugs for their work creating staff spotlights for our social media, helping us celebrate the people who make our school special.

Have a great week and Go Eagles!

Terry
