(weekly schedule)

Hello, Wood River families!

With Thanksgiving just three and a half weeks away, every school day matters. Thank you for helping our students stay focused, work hard, and continue growing. The progress our students make each day is important, and we appreciate your partnership in helping every student reach their potential.

Our Work-Hard Goals

Elementary:
100% of students will demonstrate individual growth in their DIBELS composite scores from the beginning to the end of the school year.

Middle/High School:
100% of students will demonstrate individual academic growth on state assessments, including NSCAS, Pre-ACT, and ACT.

Principal Appreciation Month

October is Principal Appreciation Month! We are grateful for Mrs. Phillips at Wood River Elementary and Mr. Pietrzak and Mr. Hirchert at the Middle/High School. Their leadership helps keep our schools safe, focused, and moving toward excellence. Please join me in thanking them for their dedication to our students, staff, and school communities.

Moving Forward at Wood River

At its most recent meeting, the school board approved an exciting facilities project. The current weight room will be converted into an automotive shop, expanding opportunities for students to develop valuable career skills in automotive technology and agriculture.

A new weight room and multipurpose space north of the varsity locker room will provide additional opportunities such as wrestling, football, track, band, golf, and many other student activities. This project reflects our school board's forward-thinking approach and its commitment to planning for the future while creating more opportunities for our students today.

These improvements will help us better support our students, expand career preparation, and make the most of our facilities.

This is an exciting time at Wood River Rural Schools. We are fortunate to have dedicated staff, families, and community members working together to provide every student with an excellent educational experience.

Have a wonderful week! As always, please reach out with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Thank you,

Terry Zessin
Superintendent
