My Story By Mr. Boucher
I was born and raised in Burwell, NE and graduated from Burwell High School. I am the oldest of three and have 2 younger sisters. My father was an educator and coach for 37 years, all at Burwell. He coached track for 53 years. My mother was the County Assessor for Garfield and Greeley Counties for over 20 years. Both are now retired and living in Burwell.
I started my teaching career at Brady ½ time and Maxwell ½ time. I taught 4 periods in the morning at Brady, jumped in my pickup with a sandwich to eat on the way, then taught 4 periods in the afternoon at Maxwell. For three years I was the Head Varsity and Junior High Football Coach at Maxwell, the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Brady and JH Boys and Girls Track Coach by myself and the Assistant Varsity Track Coach at Maxwell. It was a unique opportunity to coach against the same athletes I coached each year.
Year 4 my friend and Maxwell Principal Randy Pierce died from a brain tumor. The school board asked me at that time to be the Head Teacher/Acting Principal and AD. So back to college I went to earn my Master’s Degree in School Administration. For 20 years I then served as Principal/AD at Maxwell Public School. In that time I also coached Boys Basketball for 10 years and Varsity Track for all 20 years.
I married the love of my life and a Wood River Alum and we have two beautiful daughters. Brook the oldest, recently got married to Tannor Mroczek and currently is in her third year of Dental School at UNMC. Boston, our youngest, is currently a Junior at Wood River HS and keeps us active cheering her on in her many athletic events year round.
Going forward I am excited to have one daughter off the payroll and looking forward to enjoying Boston’s last two years of high school. Looking forward to helping our Wood River Students achieve success. Glad to be a PURPLE EAGLE!
